Question #1

Submitted: Wed, February 8, 2012, 1:30:33 PM

Q: Dear Applicant,
With 34 proposals submitted requesting over $1.1M, we have decided to provide proposal authors with the option to submit supplemental guidance that would provide the Green Fund Committee with direction on the best way to provide partial funding for their projects.

The Committee reserves the right to recommend funding, full or partial, at its discretion. Providing guidance does not create an incentive for the Committee to recommend partially fund your project. Rather, such guidance may allow the Committee to more effectively provide partial funding if it determines that is necessary. Choosing to not submit guidance will not impact the Committee's consideration of fully-funding your proposal, but may impact its ability to recommend the best partial funding option.

The Committee has begun reviewing proposals. Please submit guidance at your earliest convenience to Julia Rudnick (rudnick1@email.arizona.edu). There will not be another opportunity to provide this information. Thank you.

A: The easiest way to partially fund this initiative is to remove to promotional materials ($300). Unfortunately, the rest of the funding is essential to making this project work. I’ve spoken with our IT staff and they believe $22.50 an hour is a conservative number for a website developer. We do not want to sacrifice quality because we didn’t have enough money to pay the student. You could cut the student research wages to $10 an hour, saving $150. This brings the total down to $5350.

Question #3

Q: Dear Applicant,

The Committee would like to thank you for your proposal. We have recently discussed your proposal and have a question.

1. Does this project have a plan for marketing and implementing this app once it’s completed?

Please submit your response within a week. Thank you.

A: Excellent question, and I’m sorry I was not more clear. Once the rooms are complete, the plan is to begin sharing the software with other sustainability-related departments/organizations on campus (i.e. Students for Sustainability, FM, the Office of Sustainability, and anyone else who would like to add the link to their website). These different organizations have different populations of users, and so the information should spread widely fairly quickly. Also, we will feature the website on the Residence Life website and news stories. This will help capture the many of the newest additions to the Wildcat community. We will complete a press release and include UA Now and the Wildcat, as well as local media. Finally, the hope it to purchase some 100% post consumer recycled paper fliers from a “green” printer I use in town. These fliers, with a QR code and url, would go up in the residence halls as well as at kiosks around campus.
