Campus REC's Role in Student Retention
Campus REC is a significant factor in promoting student retention at the University of Arizona, as evidenced by the impressive 1,038,731 student visits to its facilities in FY24.
With 28,231 unique students—48% of the entire student population—engaging with Campus REC at least once over the year, the impact of recreation on student life is clear. Data analysis reveals that students who participate in Campus REC programs, including group fitness, personal training, and sports, are nearly 2.5 times more likely to be retained than those who do not engage in these activities.
Importantly, this relationship holds steady across all gender, race, and ethnicity groups, demonstrating that Campus REC programs positively influence retention for all participating students.
